Good News

Florida, California, Georgia, Alaska, Louisiana, Missouri, Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, Tennessee, North Carolina, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and ...wait for it...Washington D.C., ALL allow Shipping Containers to be used as Housing.

AK, MN and OR are quite "liberal" with peoples use of them. The REST of them DO NOT WANT their State to start creating multiples of the picture you see below.

Bad News

The reality is that the MAJORITY of Allowing States DO NOT want the Shipping Containers to "look like" Shipping Containers on YOUR Property.

Which is why - ALL of them require a FULL SET of Architecturally and Mechanically Engineered Building Plans that could easily run anywhere from $7 to $10,000 PLUS submission FEES to Approve, prior to setting one on your property.

Which is WHY - Most of us shy away from getting started, because we do NOT want to take a chance on losing more than $10,000 on a possible "NO" from Local Building Authorities.

Better News

*Aside from Alaska and and Minnesota - the balance of the ALLOWING States DO NOT want to approve anything that looks like a Shipping Container PERMANENTLY for fear of creating the opportunity for a NEW and UNREGULATED EYE SORE.

Really GREAT News!

We have created something everybody can use to build a very nice Mini-Home using a 45' High Cube Shipping Container as the "envelope" to accept the added improvements required to make these a very livable space for One to Two people.

The Materials Lists we created and sourced for these Builds, are designed to "make it easy" for anyone to "change the look" of the Products, needed for completion, without need of changing the actual Plans themselves. This gives the new Owner or Builder an opportunity to "customize" the new dwelling to suit individual taste and flair.

FULL Disclosure

We designed these buildings utilizing easily found Retail Sources; So that you could easily find an immediate supply of materials specified in our Professional Architect Drawn and Engineered Building Plans.
We have done our very best, over the last several years, to develop and offer what you find here.
Is there a slight chance that we "missed" something that applies to your particular locale? Sure. But we can also tell you that the Standards used to produce these Plans far exceed acceptable Building Standards across the United States of America.
The biggest difference with us is that WE actually created several sets of widely acceptable Building Plans using State of Florida Requirements for Acceptance. Arguably, the MOST stringent State in the Nation for Shipping Container Homes.
The ultimate price for your Home's Materials will be determined by your personal selection of Materials. But our Guidelines will get you to a "new answer" very quickly.
Lastly, NO, the $60K Retail Cost DOES NOT include a piece of land. It doesn't cover any "dirt work" and it doesn't anticipate your "actual connection costs" relative to sources of Power, Sewer or Water. Nor does it List any FEES associated with the "entire process" toward the completion of each build. No Discounts are applied to the retail cost(s) we found for the Materials List. We DO NOT receive any Fees or Commissions from any potential supplier found in our Materials Lists.
